New Personal Data Privacy Policy

Why are my users being asked to agree to a privacy policy?

Articles » New Personal Data Privacy Policy
You may have noticed that your users are being asked to agree to a new privacy policy when logging into the tool. This change is in response to the EU's General Data Protection Regulation. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a new data security and privacy regulation in the European Union (EU) that takes effect on May 25, 2018. Any US company doing business in the EU is required to comply. This includes EchoSpan.

The regulation is intended to help improve data privacy and give greater control to European Union citizens over how companies use their personal information. As part of EchoSpan’s compliance with this new regulation, we are asking all users on our site to review and agree to our site’s privacy terms that pertain to their use of the system as a review participant.

EchoSpan collects personal data from customers when individuals purchase our products, register with our website, log-in to their account, complete surveys, request information from us, or otherwise communicate with us. It is necessary for us to collect this data in order to create, maintain, and support business and personal accounts that our clients have with us.

Under the GDPR regulation, we now require users to consent to providing personal data to us in clear terms, which is why you will see the new privacy agreements on our site. Users will only have to accept these terms once. At any time, users have the right to be forgotten and ask us to delete, change or provide a download of all of their personal data. You can do this by emailing privacy@echospan.com. For more information, please visit www.echospan.com/privacy-gdpr.asp.
