Multiple Competency Model
Product Guides for EchoSpan 360-Degree Feedback
EchoSpan's tool can support multiple competency models within the same project. This functionality makes it easy for organizations with the Enterprise subscription to review Targets on individualized competency sets while avoiding creating separate projects for each person.
Configure the Project as a Multiple Competency Model
Step 1:
Identify the competencies and the competency group/role by using this template. After you have completed the template, send it to your dedicated client manager who will configure your account to reflect these competency associations.
* Note that competency names must match exactly what s in the project(s) where this feature is in use
Step 2:
Configure the project as a Multiple Competency Model by going to Setup >> Advanced Settings >> Targets & Auditors. Turn ON the "Multiple Competency Model" setting, configure the "Stop Competency Selection Event" setting according to your desired workflow, and click "Save Settings". More details on each workflow method are below.
Step 3:
To designate the target competencies, use the Target/Rater upload file to identify the target name, email and competency group/role the target is assigned to. Then, open the project and go to Target >> Import from Excel to upload the target information from the upload file. This will add the targets to the project and automatically assign the predetermined competencies for each target's feedback survey.
Configure the Stop Competency Selection Event setting according to your desired workflow method
METHOD 1: Admin assigns the competencies group
This method applies where the admin assigns the target competency groups/roles. Follow steps 1-3 above and configure the "Stop Competency Selection Event" for "When Administrators Assign Competencies". This will lock the competencies in for each target according to the predetermined competency assignments.
After you have uploaded the targets, there is no further action needed for the competency selection but if you would like to make any adjustments to an individual target's competency selection:
- Click on the Target's name from the Home page.
- Then, select the tab titled "Review Competencies" to manage the competency selections for the individual target.
Note: If your organization is utilizing the functionality for targets to self-enroll, they will be prompted with a drop down menu to select their Role (competency group) which will assign them the competencies based off of your predetermined competency group/role assignments.
METHOD 2: Target manages the competency selections
When using this method, the target has the opportunity to manage the competency selection. They will see competencies preselected based off the role/competency group assignment but they will be able to remove the predetermined competencies if they prefer and they will be able to select from any of the competencies available in the project regardless of their role. In other words, the competency group/role acts as a suggestion rather than a requirement.
Follow steps 1-3 above and configure the Stop Competency Selection Event setting for either "When the first rater responds" or for "When the Feedback Phase is turned ON".
Add instructional text for the targets in either the Self Evaluation Invitation or the Invitation to Complete Rater List. The recommended instruction should guide the target to login and manage their competencies by clicking on "Select Your Review Competencies".
Note: If your organization is utilizing the functionality for targets to self-enroll, they will be prompted with a drop down menu to select their Role (competency group) which will assign them the competencies based off of your predetermined competency group/role assignments. Self-enrolled targets will have the same opportunity to manage their competencies.
